Laura I. Jellen, age 91, a resident of Spooner died January 7, 2013. Laura was born on October 24, 1921 in the Town of Madge to George and Dorothy Todd.
On February 19, 1946 she married Edward T. Jellen and they made their home in the Town of Evergreen. Laura was Evergreen town treasurer for 26 years. She also served as president and secretary for St. Francis de Sales Alter Society for numerous years. She was a dedicated caretaker of the flag at Rocky Ridge Cemetery for many years.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; parents; stepfather Fred Akey; brothers Keith, Alvin, Lyle, and Claire; and sisters Florence, Ruby and Ina.
She is survived by her daughters Kathleen (Kenwood)Paffel and Linda (Bo) Stevens; son David (Pat) Jellen; her grandchildren Stephen, Jeff, Joshua and Benji Paffel; Jennifer Hoecherl, John and Tyler Stevens, Sara Gilberg and Joseph Jellen; 12 great grandchildren; brother Dale (Darlene) Akey; sisters-in-law Marge Todd and Libby Akey; along with other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 11, 2013 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Spooner with Father Ed Anderson as celebrant. Music will be provided by St. Francis Choir and Sr. Dominica Effertz. Interment will follow at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Spooner. Pallbearers will be Stephen Paffel, Jeff Paffel, Joshua Paffel, Benji Paffel, John Stevens, Steve Hoecherl, Joe Jellen and Tyler Stevens.
